UP AND DOWN

2019.03

I use both digital arts and plastic board carving to convey the essential concept that reality doesn’t always coincide with people’s wishes. Living in reality, people will only be assimilated and lose their directions. One work depicts several couples lying on a hill made of cutlets and dirt, sinking into the sands in silence. But against their own will, they float to the surface and overlap with each other because they are all dreamers who can only lie down and indulge in fantasy. Days go by, and they gradually forget who they are and why they are here. The hill becomes blurry, and these couples consider lying on others to be their ultimate task.

The second piece depicts a scene of a couple deciding to enjoy their life by spending time in the ocean. They cannot tell the difference between the road to heaven and the way to the bottom of the sea because they can see no boundaries. Everything is still and languishing on the sparkling surface.
