FARTING MOUTAINS

This Gouache painting is about a village in the distant mountains where everyone eats farts for survival. Because it hasn’t rained for years, no crops are yielded, and the livestock all die. At first, people can only eat the earth, which causes the mountains to be eaten up quickly. A prophet comes and suggests that the villagers eat farts instead of mountains, so they can have both food and a place to live.

 

The inspiration for this work is “An Old Man With Enormous Wings.” I try to mock people’s ignorance and how they firmly believe that they are right.
